NORTH SHORE

Stretching eight miles from Kanaha Beach to Hookipa Beach, our "North Shore" is one of only a few stretches of coastline in the U.S. that has never been commercialized. This lends the coast a very unique and unspoiled beauty. With its constant tradewinds, this area has earned a reputation for offering the best windsurfing conditions in the world.

Although there are no hotels or condo resorts, the North Shore offers private houses and cottages in Spreckelsville, Paia and Kuau. Large or small; basic or luxurious; launch sites or views; there is truly something for everyone!

Spreckelsville is a small residential area, between Kahului and Paia. It has wonderful beaches, and is in high demand for the oceanfront houses with launch sites. Reserve early!

The first Alexander & Baldwin sugar plantation was built just outside of Paia in the 1870's, but by 1930 the shift to recreation had already begun with the local love of surfing. Paia is seeing a gradual renovation and today boasts unique and charming shops and restaurants. It has earned its reputation as the "Windsurfing Capital of the World".

Kuau (along the ocean between Paia and Hookipa) is home to Maui's best fish restaurant - Mama's Fish House. Some of the rental houses in this area will be a total surprise - unique and unbelieveable.

SOME EXAMPLES:

SUGAR COVE is a group of eighteen oceanfront townhouses just upwind of Spreckelsville Beach. Each townhouse is approximately 2500 sf, with spacious living/dining/kitchen areas, large front lanais, and a great oceanview. The pool and tennis court at the back of the property are a great alternative when you've had enough ocean for the day. Experienced windsurfers can launch at the front of the property!

COCONUT COVE is oceanfront at Spreckelsville, with great Hawaiian, tropical atmosphere and a perfect windsurfing launch. Image your vacation cottage sitting at the edge of the beach; large deck with fabulous view, and bamboo furniture to complete the Hawaiian dream picture. The two bedroom, one bath cottage has a studio unit on the lower level. Just back of the octtage is the duplex with (2) separate two bedroom units. With these four self-contained units, Coconut Cove is suited to couples, families or groups. The full property can accommodate 14 adults.

HALELEA is a truly a work of art in architecture! This enchanting residence sits on the point of Tavares Bay with unrestrained views westward from Maui to Molokai. The house and cottage are wrapped around a central courtyard with a swimming pool. This is a very unusual house, and the perfect setting for a wonderful Maui vaation hideaway!
