Paradise for novice or for expert! With northeast tradewinds hitting side-on-shore, a long sandy beach, and an easy launch (shorebreak is rare), Kanaha is a perfect location for lessons. Summer is considered slalom season with flat conditions. Spring, winter, fall will find waves on the outside reefs, but still plenty of flat water on the inside for beginners. The waves on the lower reef are long and glassy, gentle yet exciting. The upper reef can be full of surprises, with pitching ramps and steep wave faces, keeping even expert sailors altert. This is an excellent reef to sail in the summer when the swells are wind generated.
