A rental vehicle is a necessity on Maui, since there is little public transportation.

Be certain to check the following when renting a car:

age requirement of drivers. Most agencies have a minimum age of 25. Some
will allow drivers between 21 and 25 subject to a surcharge.

the rental rate covers the basic rental of the vehicle ONLY, and does not
include the 4.17% excise tax, the $3/day road toll or collision insurance.

there are usually charges for extra drivers and child seats

check your insurance requirements before leaving home. Many personal auto
policies or credit cards have coverage for rental cars. The car rental
agencies definately PUSH their insurance programs, so be sure you know
what you're covered for.
