MAUI TRADEWINDS VACATION RENTAL POLICIES

For your safety and comfort, and out of mutual consideration, we request your observance of the following policies:

  1. Check-in between 3-6 PM, Check-out by 10 AM unless other arrangements are agreed-upon in advance.
  2. Children are welcome -- please supervise them to assure their safety.
  3. Please remove shoes before entering.
  4. Smoking is permitted outdoors only.
  5. Kindly keep sound level down between 10 PM and 8 AM.
  6. Alcohol should not be consumed before or during use of sauna or spa. Additional safety guidelines are posted in sauna and spa area. Drug use is prohibited.
  7. Please do not take glass outdoors -- plastic drinking containers are available.
  8. When you are going to be away, please lock all doors and sliders. We believe our home is safe and secure, but we cannot be responsible for your valuable property.
  9. If you wish to shift the frame of the couch to make it into an extra bed (or vice versa) please ask one of us to assist you -- it requires two people and some practice (this applies only to Tradewinds Suite). Please ask for assistance with the sauna or the Tiki torches.
  10. Our spa maintenance service cleans and chemically balances the outdoor spa once a week to assure that it remains in top condition. We will notify you of the schedule.


 

MAUI TRADEWINDS VACATION RENTAL RESERVATION AND FINANCIAL UNDERSTANDING

Reservations are on a first come first serve basis; you can make a reservation by one of the following methods:

  1. To make a reservation with us directly using a MasterCard, Visa, or American Express card to guarantee the deposit: FAX us your completed and signed Reservation Request Form / Credit Card Authorization and Financial Agreement.

    The reservation form contains your credit card details which are used to guarantee your reservation. We will run an "authorization only" for card verification. This may reduce the available credit on your card by an amount equal to half the rent for your stay, but that credit is automatically restored in a matter of days, depending on the policy of your card-issuing bank. The authorization is not a charge, and does not appear on your statement. In the case of a debit card, the authorization amount may be deducted temporarily from the available balance in your bank account and restored a few days afterwards. Your credit card authorization also serves as a security deposit in the event of loss or accidental damage to property. At the time you arrive, full payment is due, payable by Traveler's checks, Certified Check or cash, unless other arrangements are agreed-upon in advance. In the event of cancellation, if we receive written notification from you at least sixty days ahead of your scheduled arrival date, you authorize us to charge your card for 50% of the total rent. If we do not receive your written notice of cancellation at least sixty days ahead of your scheduled arrival date, you authorize us to charge your card for 100% of the total rent. Any such charges are subject to 12.25% tax and are non-refundable, except as provided in paragraph (3) below.

    If your reservation is for fifteen nights or more, you must authorize us to charge your card at the time you make the reservation. The amount charged is 50% of the total rent plus 12.25% tax, and is non-refundable, except as provided in paragraph (3) below. Your credit card authorization also serves as a a security deposit in the event of loss or accidental damage to property. At the time you arrive, payment of the unpaid balance is due, payable by Traveler's checks, Certified Check or cash, unless other arrangements are agreed-upon in advance. In the event of cancellation, if we do not receive your written notice at least sixty days ahead of your scheduled arrival date, you authorize us to charge your card for the balance of the total rent. Any such charges are subject to 12.25% tax and are non-refundable, except as provided in paragraph (3) below.

  2. On-line booking is accepted for reservations between five and twelve nights in duration. Your credit card details are used to guarantee your reservation. We will run an "authorization only" for card verification. This may reduce the available credit on your card by an amount equal to half the rent for your stay, but that credit is automatically restored in a matter of days, depending on the policy of your card-issuing bank. The authorization is not a charge, and does not appear on your statement. Your credit card authorization also serves as a security deposit in the event of loss or accidental damage to property. At the time you arrive, full payment is due, payable by Traveler's checks, Certified Check or cash, unless other arrangements are agreed-upon in advance. In the event of cancellation, if we receive written notification from you at least sixty days ahead of your scheduled arrival date, you authorize us to charge your card for 50% of the total rent.   3. Refund of Forfeited Deposit in case of re-booking. In the event you must cancel your reservation, we must receive written notice of cancellation from you before we can offer any of the nights you had reserved to another party. We will use our best efforts to rent the accommodation for the period you had reserved. To the extent we succeed, you may be eligible for a substantial refund of your deposit. Provided you have honored the cancellation terms of your agreement with us, if we are successful in renting the entire vacancy at the rate to which you had agreed, and we do not incur additional expenses in the process, we will refund your deposit, less a minimum cancellation fee. The minimum cancellation fee is equal to 10% of the rent, plus 12.25% tax. However, if we are unable to rent the accommodation for the amount of rent anticipated from your reservation, or we incur additional expenses resulting from your cancellation, the amount of our actual losses will be deducted from any amounts we have charged, up to the full amount. Provided you have honored the cancellation terms of your agreement with us, we will refund any amount we have charged which is in excess of our actual losses.

  4. Early Departure: If you must leave sooner than expected we will use our best efforts to rent the accommodation for the remainder of the period you had reserved. If you have honored the terms of your agreement with us, you may be eligible for a partial refund of your prepaid rent. If we are successful in renting the entire remaining period at the rate to which you had agreed, and we do not incur additional expenses in the process, we will refund the unused portion of your rental payment, less a minimum cancellation fee as described in paragraph (3) above. However, if we are unable to rent the accommodation for the amount of rent based on your reservation agreement, or we incur additional expenses resulting from your cancellation, the amount of our actual losses will be deducted from the unused portion of your rent. The remainder, if any, will be refunded to you.

  5. You agree to be financially responsible for any loss or damage to the premises or its contents which may be caused by you, beyond normal wear and tear.

  6. In the event of a dispute over the rights or obligations of either party to this Understanding, the prevailing party shall be entitled to recover its reasonable attorney fees, and costs and expenses incurred.
