Models:

I offer a standard guitar for $6,900 and a number of options available for a custom-made instrument; some of these options are extra-charge, others are no-charge.

Projected waiting period for delivery:

See Availability (http://www.pjguitar.com/guitaravailability.htm).

Sound the luthier is seeking:

Lovely an instrument as the guitar can be, it has one serious inadequacy: it's volume is low, it is hard to hear. My goal is to offer guitarists a sound which has enough loudness to be clearly heard in a concert hall, but is tempered by tonal warmth to sweeten the music.

Preferred sound wood:

My guitars are available with soundboards of western red cedar, Englemann spruce and sitka spruce. I have no personal preference; I see this as a matter of an individual player's preference.

Preferred back/side wood:

Indian rosewood or Madagascar rosewood. Indian rosewood is the most economical and produces excellent sound results. Madagascar rosewood is the best substitute I know of for the dwindling and deteriorating supply of Brazilian rosewood.

Optional available back/sides woods:

Madagascar rosewood: $350
Maple: No added charge
Other back/sides woods can be negotiated on a custom-made instrument.

Preferred scale length:

650 mm is standard.

Optional available lengths:

Other scales may be custom-ordered. See Options (http://www.pjguitar.com/guitars3.htm) for details.

Neck width:

Nut: 2-1/16" 12th fret: 2-7/16" is standard.

Optional available neck widths (at nut):

Optional fingerboard dimensions may be custom-ordered. See Options (http://www.pjguitar.com/guitars3.htm).

Other available options:

Rosette - Standard rosette, builder's choice.
Customers may also choose from my currently available collection of rosettes. See Rosettes (http://www.pjguitar.com/options3.htm) for pictures of these.

Fingerboard - Position markers in 14K gold (3/64" dot) or white plastic (1/16" dot). Fingerboard extensions for high-C (E-string), C# (E-string) and G (B-string) are available.

Frets - Hard nickel silver, medium or high.

Tuners - Standard tuners: Gotoh Deluxe.
Optional tuners: John Gilbert individual tuners and 3/plate; Irving Sloane bronze finish or gold-plated; Gotoh Premium, Rodgers copy; David Rodgers with my custom plates.

Bridge - Indian or Madagascar rosewood. Standard string spacing is 57.5 mm (29/64") between strings. The bridge is a 12-hole design with a secondary hole to loop each string through the tie block for easy string installation and optimal string-breakoff angle at the saddle.
Optional string spacings may be custom-ordered.  See Options (http://www.pjguitar.com/guitars3.htm).

Finish - The standard finish is high-gloss lacquer.

7-String - Available on custom order. Fingerboard dimensions may be varied. Two configurations are available: center-mounted planetary tuner for the D-string, or Rodgers tuners for 7-string, 4/plate on the bass side.

Case - Standard case is plush-lined, foam-padded hardshell with arched lid, including a digital thermohygrometer set (desk-mount and remote units). This case is included in the price of the guitar.

Other comments:

Neck - Honduras mahogany, graphite/epoxy reinforced for warp resistance.

Fingerboard - Ebony. Bass-to-treble string height differential for easy playability.

Nut & Saddle-bone - The nut and saddle are custom-compensated at each individual string for accurate intonation and is equipped with a 1/32" shim to adjust the action. Detailed information on this is available on my WebSite. Nut string spacing and saddle height may be varied.
