Sound the luthier is seeking:I consider the match between player and instrument a crucial relationship, and will work with the customer to achieve an instrument that is well suited musically, physically, and aesthetically. I also consider certain characteristics essential in all my guitars: sufficient power, volume, and projection for the large hall; a broad spectrum of dynamic responses, with a variety of colors, tones, and textures; crystalline clarity with good sustain; and evenness and balance throughout with good, clear separation string to string. |
The current base price (as of January 2007) is $11,500 and includes a nonrefundable deposit of $500. As it is sometimes necessary to adjust the base price, the final price cannot be quoted before six months of construction; however, experience suggests an average increase of 3% to 5% annually. One-half the purchase price is due at the time construction begins. The balance is due upon completion and before delivery. Due to the length of my waiting list, I am no longer accepting deposits for new commissions until further notice. In addition, whenever one of my instruments is to change hands I sincerely request that I be engaged to broker its re-sale in order to offer it first to those on my waiting list.
