Other comments:

I have been building guitars for over twenty years. In that time I have bult over three hundred instruments. Like most Americans who embark on building guitars, I began with no woodworking skills, and little idea of what a good guitar was. My best assets were bulldog-like stubborness and an open mind. Over a period of about fifteen years I developed an idea of the guitar I would like to build, and with the help of other woodworkers I learned to use the tools of the trade. When, in 1994, I was given the opportunity to go to Granada, Spain and work with Antonio Marin Montero, the patriarch of the Granada school of luthiers, I went gladly. Antonio is a fine gentleman with a wonderfully sweet demeanor. I have never seen anyone with greater mastery of his tools. This, coupled with the contruction techniques which have been used in Granada for generations, were a great inspiration for me. They cast a totally different light on luthiery and allowed me to build guitars not by the force of will alone, but with knowledge and skill functioning within a framework of techniques that work. Today my guitars are a combination of what I learned in twenty years in the field. While I am indebted to a great number of people, my guitars are uniquely mine, reflecting both years of personal experience and traditional procedures and techniques.
