Sound the luthier is seeking:
I seek great presence, power, and projection. The basses should be
rich, deep, and dark. The trebles should sing with clarity and
sweetness. They should be capable of lyrical vibrato as well as
penetrating staccato. There should be a seamless transition between
registers and note to note evenness in volume and sustain. It
should be easy to vary the character from sweet and warm to gutsy
and brash. All this should not sacrifice great clarity and
separation of voices. In addition, I try to maximize the dynamic
and timbral range of expression. The intonation should be
essentially perfect throughout the entire fingerboard. In reaching
for these goals I try to bring to bear technical perfection and the
highest level of artistry.

Other comments
I have recently been working with a kind of lattice bracing that yields results very similar to my typical fan-braced guitars, but which gives a little more in almost every sound attribute. I am quite excited by this
approach.
