The difference between the two types of Platoons were the differences in water output of the trucks and trailers assigned to each of the Platoon types. C - When the assigned mission of an Engineer Fire Fighting Platoon was significantly changed by an increase in enlisted staff numbers and/or an increase in numbers of or change of types of fire fighting apparatus, the Platoon was redesignated as an Engineer Composite Platoon, Fire Administration/Fire Control. S - Section as discussed above. The historical record indicates one section was detached from a Platoon in the Ryukyus and transferred to New Guinea. A Army Engineer Aviation Fire Fighting Platoon. Discussed above. NR - No "Cards" or "Historical Data Documents" in the Center of Military History archives for the 2070, 2071 and 2073 Engineer Fire Fighting Platoons. In that these Platoons lie deep within a long numerical sequence suggests these units did exist and somehow failed to get into the files referred to above. # - Break in number series. D - Detachment. Nothing in the historical record suggests what these units might have been. BP - Army Engineer Fire Fighting Battalion (Provisional). There is nothing in the historical record to explain this unit , it's organization, it's mission or it's accomplishments. KP - Army Engineer Fire Fighting Company (Provisional). It is assumed the KPs were part of the BP, but again the historical record offers nothing. $ - This is an assumed break in the series of the KPs as the total number of KPs is unknown. ++++ - It is not known if there were additional KP units beyond the last one listed above. % - These units were located after this list was originally created. |
