TRUCK, FIRE, POWERED, PUMPER
CLASS 335, 6X6, 300 GPM

Of the trucks displayed on this page this is the only one that was not built from the "wheels up" as a fire truck. It was created by taking a Long Wheelbase 2 -1/2 ton GMC (CCKW) cab and chassis and

1. Installing a fire truck body built as a Conversion Kit by General Fire Truck Corporation.
2. Installing the pump (a Darley or Barton F-300 {300 GPM}), tools, supplies, equipment and Code 3 equipment from a CLASS 325 (probably a 4x2) fire truck.

See the Spec Sheet for the Class 530 fire truck elsewhere in this grid for dimensions, performance characteristics and specifications for the truck. See the Spec Sheet for the CLASS 325 4x4 for pump performance information.

50 of the "Conversion Kit bodies were ordered by the Corps of Engineers in March 1945. It is probable no more were ordered as 24 of the CLASS 530 were ordered from another contractor at the same time to become the Army's new standard Tactical fire truck.
