The Water Palace floating in a Coconut Grove

The Moonstar Water Palace is an intimate one bedroom residence with a separate dining nook, all built in the middle of a coconut grove. The entire compound of the Water Palace is covered by a turquoise tiled reflecting pool with coconut tree islands in the middle. A lava stoned perimeter path skirting the edge of the pool winds from the Water Palace entrance to the residence and dining nook, and then on to the inner sanctum of Moonstar Palace beyond. Stepping stones across the pool lead from the perimeter path to the Water Palace itself.

Water Palace Living Room
The octagonal Water Palace itself is built entirely of red coral stone with elegant rounded columns rising from the marble floors below to the arched bangkarai wood ceiling above. Broad marble steps lead  down into the dipping pool outside of the columned arcade of the living area. A large octagonal bamboo sofa sits in the center of the columns.

A marble stairway winds up to the air conditioned bedroom above.  The twelve foot diameter, octagonal, built-in bed is surrounded by a wide marble counter with satellite television, compact disc palyer and dvd player. Teak casement windows open in every direction and overlook the reflecting pool below, and look onward to the Palace Inner Sanctum beyond the lush bamboo groves surrounding the compound.

The Bath with Outdoor Shower
Opening off of the living area is a step down bath with cream marbled floors and countertops, and a turquoise tiled outdoor shower in an intimate alcove of bergu palms. The shower water emits from the mouth of a large, stone carved cherub mounted on the marbled shower walls. In another step down alcove, the kitchenette looks out into the living area across a broad marble counter.

In addition to the alcoved shower  in the Water Palace itself, a marbled, sunken tub built for two rests on a broad, marble mandala across the pool in front of the dining bale. The open-air dining bale has a low, zen-style teak table in the center , resting on an oversized, king bed futon surrounded by cushions. With it's full wall, mirrored closet to the rear and mini-outdoor bath behind, it also serves as a guest bedroom when the need arises.
The Marbled Sunken Tub

Keraton Bintang Bulan and the Water Palace are located in the heart of the beachside village of Seminyak, down a narrow, tree-lined village way, midway between the beach and bustling Jalan Seminyak; the main village road. The entire residence and compound are exquisitely decorated with art, furnishings and statuary from Bali, Java and Thailand.

Just a block away, outside of the tranquil, gardens and pools of the Water Palace, is Seminyak Beach , stretching for miles in both directions, and within easy walking distance of the Palace are the numerous boutiques, antique shops, restaurants and night spots that make Seminyak famous.

The Water Palace rents for $695 per week for one or two persons for stays of one week or more. The Inner Sanctum of the Moonstar Palace grounds , accesible through a garden door directly off of the Water Palace, rents with the Water Palace for an additional $300 per week.
