This program is designed to create and foster active partnerships with all elements of Maui's home building industry, and to focus  on several important areas:
 

  • Construction Site Recycling & Source Reduction
  • Distributed Power Generation
  • Resource Efficiency
  • Recycled Content Building Products
  • Energy/Resource Efficient Architecture & Design
  • Innovative Land Use Programs


The primary objective of this program is to promote
 high performance housing and commercial building design and construction on Maui


Maui Recycling Group is committed to:

Working with Maui-based builders, developers, contractors, architects, planners and government, in development of environmentally appropriate and economically viable building practices:

To continue implementation of construction site recycling programs and associated solid waste management practices: 

To stimulate the adoption of programs, regulations and statutes, which enable and support adoption of distributed electrical power generation for Maui homes and commercial buildings:

To develop a number of "case studies" invesitgating the application of "green building" principles and practices to Maui projects;

To support a number of demonstration/implementation programs in partnership with Maui-based builders, developers, contractors, architects, planners and government.

To identify economic and regulatory barriers to implementation of demonstration projects and to develop the strategies – legislative, regulatory, financial – to overcome these barriers.
