Directions: Follow Rte 36 to Hana. Locate the Old Hana School and park there. Walk through the Japanese cemetery to the ocean. There is a red-dirt trail along the edge which goes to the left around a point. There you will overlook the cove and the beach. Stay on the trail to get to the beach.
Little Makena (Little Beach): Probably the most famous nude beach in Hawaii. Nice and laid back, no more hassles with the police. Directions: From the airport take Rte 350 towards Kihei and turn off on the Piilani Hwy, Rte 31. From the Lahaina area take Hwy 30 south toward Kihei and join the Piilani Hwy. From the Piilani Hwy, turn right at the end onto Kilohana drive and left onto Wailea Alanui drive. Follow Wailea Alanui drive (which becomes Makena Road). Exactly 1 mile after the entrance to the Maui Prince Hotel look for a turnoff to the right (not the one .8 miles from the hotel). Park where you can and walk to Makena Beach (Big Beach). Walk toward the right until you get to some rocks, climb over these rocks and enjoy Little Beach. |
