RELEASE

I look around the room

there are wrinkles everywhere

if I could push a button of release

open a dam of memories

start the flow of words

oh what interest there would be

in hearing tales of what has passed

Each face holds a story of adventures

full of love or stress and care

yet beneath the surface

there are fleeting thoughts that could be shared

while remembering

and winding down

if I could find that button

of release

AND SO IT IS

Weights

Attachments

Loss

Burdens

Struggles

Anger / rage

All lead to heaviness of spirit.

there’s no reason to fear it

let go and watch them fade

to nothing more than empty shade

Lightness

Balance

Freedom

Joy

Weightless

Acceptance

No need to wonder why

No reason to fret and doubt and cry

Goodness found when rightly viewed

Now is the time for gratitude

NOW

These wrinkled hands and weathered face

have served their purpose well

getting past the wrinkles

lets stories flow

oh, how much there is to tell

wrinkly, crinkly

does it make a difference

in how we think and feel?

Wrinkled but huggly

twinkly and wiggly

though ugly

in the sight of some

The young don’t see the wrinkles

Or if they do they don’t care

LOOK OUT

The devil appears in hidden ways

and tries to color our thinking

by being so nice

and looking so sweet

while carrying a pitchfork

that stabs and annoys

and hurts and destroys

while sweeping us off our feet

Look past that old devil

and know he’s not real

it’s our own clouded thinking

colored by where we have been

that makes him alive

to our flickering eyes

Wake up, he’s nothing to fear

He’s nothing, can’t you hear

my warning cry

that could save you some grief

or must you find out for yourself?

Well, it’s a relief

to know I warned you

and if you can’t see

than I guess you’ll find out the hard way

I must set you free

Temptation continues to threaten

I must watch what I say and think

That old devil is out there

just around the corner, waiting

He’s giving me wiggly wrinkles

showing

where I’ve been

I must throw him away

I don’t want him out or in.
