FISH ON! Blackbass fishing, smallmouth bass fishing or fishing for 'smallies". It makes little difference what name you use for these spunky fish, the main thing is to realize that they are very aggressive and fun fun fun to catch. This is a family smallmouth bass fishing adventure that will be remembered for a lifetime. We have also introduced this fabulous fishery to corporate fishing groups and fly fishing clubs. How would you like to catch (and release) 50+ smallmouth bass per person per day? We drift 35-58 miles of spectacular secluded river filled with smallmouth bass. The Department of Fish and Game estimates that there are 4000 smallmouth bass per mile. We rarely see another raft on the entire trip. We camp out under starlit skies, eat mouth-watering meals and experience camaraderie that can only be felt camping on a wild and scenic river. Experience the same trip that Jerry McKinnis did in July of 1996. He and his grandson Blair experienced the spirited competition of smallmouth bass fishing as only a grandfather and grandson can! This is an excellent trip for introducing beginning anglers to smallmouth bass fishing. Jerry said "if someone wanted to learn how to catch a smallmouth bass, this river would be a no brainer". This river also has something for the experienced angler. Biggest 'smallie' so far, 23 1/2 inches. Can you catch one bigger? We are one of the most innovative outfitters on the John Day River, having designed our exclusive bass fishing frames for our rafts. They offer comfort and ease of movement. |

The John Day river, because of its remoteness, offers something other fishing trips don't: tranquility. You battle humanity enough driving to and from work. The John Day offers great fishing plus the relief from dealing with all those people. It's just you and a very small group of like minded smallmouth bass fishing anglers experiencing the time of your life. No cars, no roads, no TVs and no phones. |
