Rogue River Lodge Fishing Trips

Oregons Rogue River lodge fishing trips in the 'Wild and Scenic' Rogue River Canyon. We offer Chinook salmon fishing (King salmon) , Coho salmon fishing (Silver salmon) and steelhead fishing adventures. Our Lower Rogue River Lodge fishing trip is not just another fishing trip. It is a salmon and steelhead fishing adventure. This fishing trip is unique because it is a one way, 65 mile journey down the 'Wild and Scenic' Rogue River, a spectacular place filled with history, romance and adventures of the Old West. The scenery and wildlife are so spectacular that the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management has protected it by declaring the area 'Wild and Scenic'. That means no one will be able to build dams, homes, or roads in the area. The number of people allowed to float this 65 mile trip with us is restricted to just 12-14 participants per trip. It looks and feels the same as it did 100 years ago.

Simply the Best driftboats available for Rogue River driftboat fishing.

Our day begins early with the arrival of the 'Willie' driftboats already stacked from the previous trip. The guides begin unstacking the boats and reassembling them so that they are ready by 8:30 A.M., when our guests arrive. There are lunch coolers, barbecues, camp chairs, cold drinks and fishing equipment to store. Once our guests have packed their gear in dry bags and received their boat assignments for the day we are ready to depart on our first days float trip down the beautiful Lower Rogue River Canyon, destination Black Bar Lodge.

On Day 1 we fish primarily for Chinook salmon and adult Summer run steelhead, eat a excellent gourmet lunch, portage the driftboats through the lining chute at Rainie Falls while the guests take pictures of the salmon and steelhead migrating over the falls. We fish until about 4:30 pm and then its time to run some exciting whitewater like Tyee Rapid, Wildcat Rapid, Slim Pickens, and Upper Black Bar Falls, which is just before the first nights lodging at Black Bar Lodge. This is a very exciting Class 4 rapid.

Black Bar Lodge breakfast.

Black Bar Lodge is located thirteen miles down river from the Alameda Bar launch site. This is just down river from the Galice Resort where some of our guests choose to stay the night before their driftboat fishing trip begins. It offers a common dining area, with a warm cozy fireplace on those evenings or mornings when the air is chilled. The lodge and dinner table is a great place to reflect on the days activities and meet new friends. The lodge has a cheerful staff and the food is very good family style cuisine. We eat dinner and breakfast at Black Bar Lodge.

The further down you float, the deeper into the wilderness you go. Every day you will see and hear more wildlife. Some of our resident creatures include bear, eagles, cougar, beaver, otter, blue heron, raccoon and osprey.
