Whale Day 2008
Pacific Whale Foundation deserves a heartfelt mahalo for creating such an amazing day for Mauians on Whale Day last Saturday. Hundreds of great artisans were selling all kinds of fun things they had created and refined to bring to the marketplace. I bought a hat that a new company called Maalaea Bay designed that had their slogan on the side..."It Is What It Is". I guess that's their way of saying, "Chill", but if you have a better idea let me know. Maalaea Bay Grill had a mix grill plate lunch that was "killas" and the stage presentation was first class. Augie was a great MC and the musicians were so professional. Overall, it was great.
Maui.Net is going to be editing the event into bite-size pieces and putting it up for you to see what you missed. Tune in as we roll out these mini-concerts over the next few weeks.
Rumors are already running wild that PWF is going to go all the way next year and book some big time mainland band to headline the show. Maybe they will be as lucky as we were for the sun and the whales dancing off the south Maui shoreline during the concert.
BTW...if you get a chance to go see the U2 3D concert at the 3D theater go for it. I met with the guys in LA who produced the film and saw a bit of it in their in-house screening room, and it was so awesome I sprung for the $15 ticket and went later to see the whole thing. You won't be able to see it on Maui in 3D, but it is worth the effort.
Hope all of you are doing well. Rainy season is almost pau, and it's going to be back to sleeping with the fan on soon, so enjoy the cool weather while it's still here.
Laters,
Kean
