Maui visit #2

Mar. 5, 2008 (1956 views)

Well, we are doing it again.  We visited Maui in 2006 and are on our way again in June staying at the ResortQuest Kaanapali Shores (we stayed there in 2006 and loved it).  This time we are meeting up with some friends from Australia and others will be joining us from the states.  We will have a total of 8 in our group and are very excited about the trip.  We're already realizing that a week won't be enough time to see what we want to see but, I'm sure, we'll manage just fine. ...

Donuts on a Stick

Mar. 1, 2008 (4968 views)

I was looking for the Komoda T Store and Bakery listing to give a review, and it's not listed on Maui.net.  So I decided to dedicate this blog posting to the wonders of this upcountry bakery.First I have to say I miss Dunkin Donuts.  I mean I really, really miss Dunkin Donuts.  If there's anyone on the mainland reading this, and you're close to a Dunkin Donuts, send me an e-mail - I may be willing to do a trade if you can overnight me a few cinnamon cake donuts. My only...

Living in Paradise

Feb. 27, 2008 (3735 views)

A friend on the mainland thinks that I spend all day on the beach, sitting under a palm tree drinking coconut juice.  But the reality of living on Maui is much more challenging, from the high cost of living (gas is already $4.00 a gallon here), to education, to navigating the cultural barriers and fluctuating job market. But just when I think about moving back to the Bay Area, I remember the Safeway that I used to go to.  There were always several people outside the sliding glass...

Planning to move to Maui on Dec 31, 2008, so that I am there for New Year, 2009.Looking for anyone who would like a responsible person to "sit" their home when they are not in Maui.  I travel light, so I have only a few clothes and personal items to move.  I don't smoke, do drugs, drink, and no pets.  I am very clean, and am pretty handy with fixing things. My email is dave_olson_777@yahoo.comPhone 562-533-4826...

Trip to Maui

Feb. 20, 2008 (2170 views)

My husband and I went to Maui in February of 2008 and it was a wonderful time. The weather was wonderful and constant. There were very few bugs. We stayed in three different spots including: Hale Kamaole condominium, Ka'anapali Shores, and the Hyatt Regency. All three places had their pros and cons but the cons were nothing major. My favorite place was of course the Hyatt because their pool was awesome and the whole hotel grounds were breathtaking. Ka'anapali Shores was also very nice but they have...
