Heading out from Lahaina, we went to a snorkel spot called Shark fin. This is an excellent snorkeling site, and coral is very colorful too. We were served continental breakfast on the way out, and if you in the front, or up top, they will bring your breakfast too you with the exception of hot beverages. I highly recommend the reef tour. Usually the captain or another crew will take you out to various sites, dive below and pick up sea urchins to hold, and this is a great way to learn more about the sea.
After about an hour of snookering the BBQ lunch was being served, Chicken, Veggie Burgers and all the fixings, and open bar beer or wine. We actually were being served lunch on the way back to the Westside because we went out a bit further than normal.
Just when we thought our trip was over, the captain made a B line for Kaanapali, and he had heard that there was a large Dolphin pod there. For almost 30 minutes we had dolphins jumping, linking up with the boat and doing flips. We were told that the Spinner dolphins can spin 7 times in the air before landing on their best efforts.
Dolphins I believe are some of the most incredibly spiritual and happy mammals in the ocean. They are like "Dogs of the Sea", always happy to see you, and just seem to be smiling and joyful at all times. Once you have an encounter with them, it is truly live changing. PWF said they see dolphins about 5 out of 7 trips, but to swim with them in the wild is only a few times a year. And although this is only one snorkel site, the trip is an excellent value, and can become priceless if you have a dolphin experience.
