1. Best Breakfast?
Charley's in Paia. Great omlettes, big portions, and famous variety of benedict choices.

Maui Family Vacations

2. Best Breakfast in Kihei?
Stella Blues in Azeka Place. Big, contemporary and breezy with great menu and lots of friendly faces. Runner up: Marco's in Kahului. Great service and excellent coffee surround a wonderful menu.

3. Best Fish?
Waterfront Restaurant in Maalaea. This catagory could be argued but if you have to choose just one I choose Waterfront. If I got to choose two I might choose Jacques in Paia.

4. Best Maui Ambiance?
Mama's Fish House. Great private beach setting, unreal decor, excellent food. Expensive but everyone you meet after your vacation will ask you if you went there and dis you if you didn't. It's a classic. Runner up: Pineapple Grill in Kapalua. Unreal site and food.

5. Best Uber Steak?
Ruth's Chris Steak House Shops at Wailea. You will spend close to $40 per entre', but you will get a great steak. Sarento's on the Beach in Wailea isn't really a steakhouse but it is so romantic and you can get a great steak there.

6. Best Value?
Kimo's on Front Street in Lahaina. Oceanfront, sunset, menu choices from the low $20's and lots of energy. Runner up Cafe O'Lei in several locations. Always good food and a check comes that always seems like they forgot to add one of your party's meals.

7. Best Resort Experience?
Humuhumunukunukuapua'a Restaurant at the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa. Surrounded by a tropical lagoon and designed to look like an ancient polynesian village you will have a memory that will last a lifetime. Runner Up: Son'z Maui Hyatt Regency Resort. It's new and it's really good.

8. Best View?
Kula Lodge on the way to Haleakala. While sitting on the ocean at sunset is great I prefer sitting on top of the world and looking over Maui, Lanai, Molokini and Kahoolawe at any time of the day. Caveat: When it's raining pick someplace else. Sea House Restaurant in Napili. Molokai is a great island to look at as you enjoy great food.

9. Best Celebrity?
Bev Gannon's Haliimaile General Store in an old Sugar Plantation General Store, but no converted with huge paintings by Jan Kasprnski and wonderful decor Bev always seems to create the perfect night with classic dishes and wonderful service. I'O Restaurant in Lahaina at 505 Front Street has amazing dishes that arrive at your table with such style that you almost hate to consume them.

10. Best Ethnic?
Maui Tacos. Several locations. Fresh mexican food done Maui style. Close runner up Sansei Sushi in Kihei.
