ocean warning

Aug. 14, 2007 (2081 views)

Hey tourists. Be careful about going into the ocean today and tomorrow.  The passing hurrican will produce large, ugly and unpredictable waves. These can and usually are very dangerous.OR..........paddle out! There cannot be sane people without the insane ;)   I'm definitely gonna go looking for a spot to charge if the conditions are suitable! 0_oAloha!P.S. I'm watching! ...

You have to admire a company that looks to the furture and just like a certian battery, just keeps on going.Maui Net is diffenitly one of those companies. Hats off to their management and staff for looking to the future and expanding the services they offer to the local population as well as the outside world.  I checked out Maui Net's new portal sight at  maui.net  and fell in love with it.  What a treat! Way to go Maui Net...

Transformers Rocks!

Aug. 13, 2007 (1954 views)

I'm not a fan of the cartoon (or the toys), but the Transformers movie is awesome! I wait for most movies to come out on DVD, but this is a movie that you HAVE to see on the big screen. It was visually stunning, the effects were incredible, the action was fast paced, and the movement on the big screen made it WOW! The opening is an in-your-face, kick-in-the-head, blow-you-away scene that sets the pace for the rest of the movie... you don't want to be in the bathroom or consession stand when...

It's hard being green

Aug. 10, 2007 (1788 views)

Being green is kinda cool and fun, earth-concious I mean, not the color (although being the color green might be interesting too). I don't understand why the County seems resistant to making it easy to be green... money probably, but wouldn't it save us more money in the long run if we reclaimed more of our trash, enabling our land-fill to last longer? Our sub-division only has trash pick-up once a week. I see my neighbors taking out six garbage cans each week. My family, on average,...

Brand Name School Supplies?

Aug. 7, 2007 (2319 views)

I've heard many parents complain about why teachers ask for a specific brand name of school supply on the list of items to purchase for the school year. It's understandable how parents question the brand name when it is cheaper to buy an off brand. Money is tight, and the sales are not very forthcoming. Does it really matter? Isn't a crayon a crayon, and a marker a marker? A teacher recently gave me the reason why specific brand names are requested... it does matter. She said...

Sweet UpCountry

Aug. 7, 2007 (2651 views)

I'm an early riser and I just love the crisp early morning air of  upcountry.  The sunrise, lack of noice, except the birds, and that sweet smell before the traffic starts up.  I guess that's why I have always called it God's Country.  A little bit of heaven right here on earth.  ...

Red Light Runners

Aug. 6, 2007 (2506 views)

What's with all the red light runners.  Come on people, slow down!!!  Is it really worth running the red lights and risking not only your life, but someone elses just so you can get to your destination a few minets earlier?   It's not just one groupe of drivers here on Maui and through out the state that are risking lives.  It's not in one area or at any spacific time of day.  It is out of control and a major concern.  All of...

A Saigon Cafe

Aug. 6, 2007 (2595 views)

I love trying new foods and for anyone who wants great Vietnamese grinds, you have to try A Saigon Cafe.  It's located in Wailuku and is a great place to take family or visitors.  It's hard to choose from 91 items that are a constant, but try choosing from the 12 specials they offer.  I love the cake and icecream they serve for desert.  So anyone else who likes something different, I say try their food.  You won't be disappointed....
