The other day I was talking over Skype with a friend in Australia and I decided to show him a little bit of what Maui looks like. I decided to take my laptop outside to show him the sunset. It was a pretty amazing view, but I didn't think much of it until he told me that it was the most amazing sunset he had ever seen, (at least over a video conference). Last weekend my family and I traveled into Haleakala Crater for our second time. We decided to have our bags packed in ahead of our arrivel by mules and hiked in through sliding sands. It's an amazing experience to leave the modern world and venture into a windswept crater. You can see miles ahead in any direction and mist, rain, and fog can sweep through the crater in mere minutes.
