near Makena Landing"

Maui Sea Kayaking is the oldest touring company on Maui (established by kayakers in 1988). People we've taken out thank us because we only take out a maximum of four people at a time! We are equipped to and love taking out physically challenged paddlers!

portrait.jpg (4172 bytes)Ron Bass began kayaking in 1980 and has been leading kayak tours on Maui since 1988.  His unique approach to kayak instruction reflects extensive experience in life and sports and includes excursions with the Special Olympians, Youth at Risk, senior citizens and the women's shelter.

Former ski instructor and patrolman, certified disabled ski instructor, physical education teacher, special education teacher, recreation director, licensed practical nurse and polarity therapist are several of his talents.

Ron's expertise on local ocean conditions and wilderness secrets will open a whole new world of caves, hidden beaches, spectacular cliffs, teeming fish, turtles and whales.

"As accomplished kayakers our love of paddling, respect and appreciation for the marine world enable us to introduce YOU into the pristine beauty of our environment in a fun, low impact, sensitive way.  Join us!"

KAYAK TOURS

1/2 Day Trips

Just south of the Wailea Resort area is Makena Landing and across the bay, Puu Olai, popular with kayakers, snorkelers and scuba divers. Because of it's protected location this area is perfect for all levels of kayakers and your tour (no more than four people) will be customized to your interests and paddling skills. Ron always begins with a thorough kayak lesson to familiarize you with your boat and how to handle it. There are caves to explore and an exotic array of protected sea life to experience first hand. The Whales (which are in season in Maui waters from November thru May) are the most exhilarating to see, there are also sea turtles and dolphins.

"Rock Gardens", for kayak play, line this beautiful bay providing extra fun for all paddlers, from beginners to the 'extreme adrenaline junkies'!

Snacks are provided, but be sure to bring a hat, sunglasses [with tie-string], sunscreen, water and of course, snorkel gear.

KAYAK SURFING

MEETING LOCATION DEPENDENT UPON THE WAVES
Ron has kayak surfing toys of all descriptions and for all levels of skill or interests. These range from wave skis and white water boats to hot sit-on-top surfers!  For those who want to be slowly introduced to the thrill of it all, he has several tandem surfing kayaks.

Ron will teach you the skills you need to catch 'em and ride 'em! The tour is usually located at Thousand Peaks Beach which has trees, bathrooms and picnic tables for those members of your party who prefer to watch or just swim in the gentle waves.

Snacks provided.
